CONTEXT

Wait—where's my wallet this time?

We've all had that frustrating experience of forgetting something important on the way out the door - your wallet, charger, or water bottle. It wastes time and throws off your whole day. This problem needs a solution.

In this Project, I walk you through the creation of Forget-Me-Not, an app that blends geofencing and reminders to keep users sharp.

HYPOTHESIS

If people in fast‑paced world forget belongings, their day derails and productivity drops

PROBLEM VALIDATION

How Forgetting Items Makes Users Feel

User survey results showing emotional impact of forgetting items

To validate the emotional and practical impact of forgetting essentials, we surveyed 30 people—primarily aged 18–34—about how often it happens, how it makes them feel, and the situations that trigger it.

Users describe a rush of stress and wasted time each time they realize they've left something behind—and it happens more often than you'd think.

USER JOURNEY

Why We All Miss the Mark

Night Prep
User Journey

Marketing manager Olivia lines up her laptop, ID badge & prototype at her bedside—no surprises tomorrow, and sets a quick reminder: 'Don't leave prototype behind.'

Morning Rush
Morning Rush

Leaving home extra early, she darts out the door and races down the block to catch the bus

Reminder Ping
Realization

Bus rounding the corner, phone buzzes with the reminder. Riffling through her tote, the prototype is missing

Flatmate SOS
Panic

"Why couldnt I be reminded when I left home?" Heart pounding, she texts: "I forgot my prototype, can you bring it to HQ?"

The Cliffhanger
Recovery

Bus ride jitters. Will her flatmate save the day, or is Olivia heading straight into disaster?

BIG TAKEAWAYS        BIG TAKEAWAYS        BIG TAKEAWAYS
Takeaway 1
THE BLIND SPOT
Time-only pings go off whether you've stepped out or stayed in—location alerts either drown you in chimes or skip the critical moment.
Takeaway 2
OUT-THE-DOOR GAP
Your brain and calendar don't talk. No app yet senses your front-door exit to fire a last-call checklist.
Takeaway 3
MAGNIFYING THE OPPORTUNITY
Imagine a pure-phone solution that fuses clock + coordinates—no extra gadget, total simplicity.
Takeaway 4
DEPARTURE PING
A micro-geofence around home that sparks the reminder the instant you walk away—no more 'too late to turn back.'
Takeaway 5
FATIGUE TUNER
Full control over how many nudges, where they land, and when they ring—stay sharp, not spammed.
